How we work

A short list of
growers we can drive to.

  1. 01

    Twice-weekly boxes

Vegetables and leaves come from Ashcombe Farm in the Chew Valley on Tuesday and Friday mornings. What turns up decides half the menu.

  2. 02

    An open kitchen

There is no pass hatch to hide behind. Six seats face the stoves, which keeps everyone honest and makes the room smell right.

  3. 03

    Whole animals, whole fish

We take beef by the forequarter and fish by the box, so the menu carries the cuts that need eating rather than only the easy ones.

Booked for my dad's sixtieth and they moved us to the corner table without being asked. The hogget was the best thing I have eaten this year, and nobody rushed us out at half nine.

Set lunch at 24 quid is quietly the best value in Bristol.

Really good food and the staff know the wine list properly. The room does get loud once it fills up, so ask for a table near the window if you want to hear each other.
